• Eliminates Inaccurate Measurements: Getting registered under the Legal Metrology Act and following the norms of the act and rules thereunder can help businesses eliminate poor measurement practices. It directly facilitates the reduction of cost and time and prevents exploitation of the customers due to the standardisation of the measurement practice.

• Fair Levy of Taxes: The entire indirect taxation regime is based on the value and measurement of the commodities as the tax is charged on the value of supply. Due to accurate weight measurements, there are no inaccuracies in levy and payment of taxes. This benefits both the government and the businesses.

• Reduces Trade Barriers: Registration under the Legal Metrology Act reduces the trade barriers for businesses like the application of technical regulations, assessment procedures, standards etc. This boosts the morale of the businesses.

• Build Consumer Trust: Registration under Legal Metrology Act provides an assurance to the customer that they are being sold the right product and it complies with certain rules and regulations.
